About Client

A large national mortgage lender that originates and services home mortgage loans through 280 branch offices and over 14,000 affiliates across the United States.

Issues

Client's primary goal was to significantly increase the amount of mortgage loans issued by streamlining and accelerating the loan origination process. The Company initiated the implementation of a new loan origination system based on cutting edge Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) technologies.

Because of the mission critical nature of the system, the client required a 24-hour global testing cycle and also desired in-house competency to mitigate risks of system instability and production outages.

Approach

The full spectrum of Aaxis' System Optimization Services (SOS) was engaged, from inception phase onward, to ensure the delivery and deployment of a stable, scalable and fault-tolerant end product. Aaxis went through the following steps:

  • Reviewed and validated software architecture design for the following five system complexes: OLTP, documentation management, vendor management, data warehousing, enterprise integration and legacy integration
  • Evaluated, tested and validated various messaging service providers and identified best option
  • Assisted product vendor in resolving critical defects in messaging bus
  • Identified and overcame performance bottlenecks in all software and network layers
  • Collaborated with internal IT staff and external hardware vendors to select the production hardware platform
  • Analyzed existing production metrics and projected future production volumes, and provided optimal deployment configuration and sizing estimates
  • Redesigned deployment architecture to improve performance, maintenance and reliability
  • Produced and recommended optimal deployment configuration for all java components, application servers and hardware
  • Trained and mentored client staff to enable in-house practice of Aaxis' ARM methodology.
Results
  • Managed the quality of offshore deliverables: enabled 24-hour global performance testing cycle via on-shore/off-shore coordination.
  • Recommended and deployed Enterprise Service Bus Infrastructure to achieve 99.9% uptime and to support over 200 messages per second.
  • Optimized all core engines to achieve production transactional volumes of 14, million page views per day.
  • Doubled transactional volume of external vendor interface systems
  • Identified and resolved defects in external application infrastructure products
